 2022 Elk Hunt

Here we go again!  Dad and I just booked another Colorado elk hunt.  Josh and Tom are joining us this time. Josh has wanted to do a trip like this for more than 10 years...a mountain state big-game hunt with his Grandpa...and we have finally booked it. 

This time we will be hunting with Roger Cesario and his team at Bar-K Ranch in Colorado. The Bar-K is 40 miles southwest of  Carbondale, Colorado. Roger's family has owned the property since the 1920's. They have roughly 5000 acres, and the hunt will be on his family land, as well as the surrounding Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests public lands.  Elevations in this part of the state range from 7,500 to 10,000+ feet. 

The Bar-K is at 8,100 feet elevation. Roger Cesario's primary business is luxury home construction, based out of Crested Butte. He built the hunting lodge and adjoining garage in 2013.  He calls it Sheep Park Lodge, and its an off the grid solar 2,500 SF facility with a full kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft area. 

We anticipate a 1,200+ mile drive to Bar-K...roughly 18.5 hours.  The last hour and half will be back-country highways and forest roads...slow going, and expect it to be stunningly beautiful country.

Very much looking forward to this trip...feeling very blessed to be able to do it with a group of my favorite humans!   I need to start getting in shape! Stay tuned for more posts.
